HOW TO MEASURE HEIGHT AND THICKNESS WITH A MICROSCOPE

The easiest way is to combine a microscope with a digital indicator.
Choose a lens with as shallow a depth of field as possible.
The mechanism that raises and lowers the instrument should be equipped with a fine adjustment function for more accurate measurement.

厚み測定

1.Thickness Measurement

The condition for measurement is that the object is a transparent or translucent film or sheet adhering to the base material.
The object on the right has a transparent protective sheet adhering to the product.
The sheet was so thin that I observed it at 600x.

厚み測定

Focus on the substrate (resin). Set the indicator value to zero. Focus on the top surface of the sheet.
Read the value of the indicator.
This is the thickness. (107μm)

2.Height measurement

The object must be capable of displaying a step on a single screen to be measured.
Measure the height of the IC in the left photo.
I observed it at 200x because it was high enough.

高さ測定

Focus on the substrate and set the indicator value to zero. Focus on the top surface of the IC and
read the value of the indicator.
This is the height. (2.39mm)

We offer two types of stands (height gauges) with digital indicators.
